PROFILE

Olivia is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto- Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Curriculum & Pedagogy. A compassionate leader, invested in fostering inclusive environments for learning. With experience in Canadian Human Rights research, Olivia understands the intersection of  education, identity and access. A graduate of York University’s Bachelor of Education (2018) & Master of Arts in Critical Disability Studies (2023), Olivia is passionate about exploring equitable pedagogies through intersectional and inclusion centered research and storytelling. Olivia’s expertise in relationship-building inspires an ethos of community, reciprocity and understanding.

WORK EXPERIENCE 

UHN at Temerty Faculty of Medicine -Research Analyst (Dr. Alice Kam)- Toronto, Ontario (March 2026-current) 

  • Support research on holistic engagement of disability on Neurorehabilitation Research Lab by reviewing and editing research conducted by the Lab. 

  • Conduct and communicate the results of literature reviews related patient/caregiver experiences of those affected by spinal cord injury and brain trauma. 

  • Collaborating on survey design for resident students regarding treatment of patients with complex care needs. 

  • Co-create learning opportunities for resident students, medical professionals and clinicians to engage in learning about disability from different perspectives. 

St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School- Consulting Learning Strategist, Middle School (Sept 2024-Aug. 2026) 

  • Working collaboratively with administration and students in establishing equitable practices in curriculum objectives and lesson delivery. Subject expert on disability advocacy, accessibility, Learning Disabilities, Canadian Human Rights and Education Law. Develops and implements Individualized Education Plans and review meetings. Facilitates and supports Student Success Meetings designed to offer support to students with and without exceptionalities or identification in need of more specific support. Fostered opportunities for Professional Development among Middle School Faculty with respect to Universal Design for Learning and Equitable Assessment.

  • Curriculum Design Lead (Leadership): Responsible for auditing and creating curricula on the topic of leadership skills in the 21st century. Geared toward “future ready” milestones and locally developed course requirements. 

University of Toronto, OISE Graduate Research Assistant (Dr. Kathy Broad) - Toronto Ontario (Sept 2024-current) 

  • Responsibilities included but not limited to collaborating on pre-existing research projects particular to the Masters of Teaching program at the University of Toronto. Skills include collecting and cleaning data; preparing datasets to be analyzed; to run analysis and troubleshoot collaboratively. Consider a Critical Disability Studies lens during research and interview facilitation. 

York University - PT Research Assistant (Dr. Eva Peisachovich, Faculty of Health, York University.) - Toronto, Ontario (Feb 2023-Aug 2023) 

  • Responsibilities included but not limited to conducting a scoping review; to run date through Covidence clean and prepare datasets to be analyzed using Covidence; to run analysis and troubleshoot; to write methods and results and prepare tables to provide interpretation; any other research needs required by project group 

Holy Name of Mary College School - Teacher - Mississauga, Ontario (September 2018-current) 

  • 2019-2022 Learning Enrichment Lead  grades 5-12: (September 2019- 2022)

  • Department Head of the Learning Enrichment Department (Special Education). Working collaboratively with administration in developing a department to support students with Learning Disabilities, exceptionalities, truancy and mental health concerns. 

  • 2018-2019 Grade 6 Classroom Teacher: 

    Created an inclusive environment for students that inspired collaborative learning and critical thinking. Communicated with parents and guardians through Google Classroom and email with an encouragement of parent participation in learning opportunities at home.
